In this study, the effects of the Purdue Model used in the teaching of the unit ‘The Let’s Solve the Puzzle of Our Body’ on the attitudes of 5th grade students towards academic achievement, permanent learning and science have been analysed. For this purpose, a quasi-experimental study was conducted with a total of 87 students in Samsun in Turkey. For this purpose, the research was carried out by using the quasi-experimental method, in total 87 students in Samsun city of Turkey. While in the experimental group applications were carried out based on the Purdue Model, in the control group the course was taught according to the activities stated in 2013 Ministry of National Education Science Curriculum in Turkey. The data of study were collected using Academic Achievement Test and Attitude Scale towards Science. As a result of the study, it was determined that achievement and attitude levels of the experimental group and the control group students were significantly different in favour of the experimental group students. On the basis of the results obtained from this research, some suggestions have been made to future researchers.

A study analysis of student attitude to science lessonsAn attitude is a form of one's perception of an object that is described with expressions of like or not. The purpose of the study was to describe the attitudes of students towards the three indicators of the attitude of the junior high school in Batanghari. The research method uses quantitative survey research. The instrument used was a questionnaire that focused on three indicators consisting of 18 statements and also interviews. The sample in this study was 280 students in Batanghari. The results of research on three attitude indicators which became the dominant focus of research in the good category. The Social Implications of the Science show a good category with a percentage of 57.9%. The pleasure of science learning is well categorized with a percentage of 45.4%. The attitude towards the science investigation is categorized sufficiently with the percentage category of 41.1%. From the research that has been carried out, it can be seen that the attitude of students in junior high school is categorized as good, because the three indicators examined show good categories.
Abstract Science, as a subject is universal and knows no boundaries. The claims of Science for inclusion in the school curriculum came to be recognized after years of active and persistent efforts. Science almost revolutionaries human life and proved indispensable for existence of man. Now, supremacy of Science has been established in every field. In fact, so great is its importance for man and society that the present day people live in an "age of science". No one perhaps needs an explanation at present to include science in the school curriculum. Science teaches what evidence is, what proof is. English, History, Geography, Classics etc. are taught because they provide a liberal education. The main object of imparting education is to turn out intelligent citizens able to appreciate and enjoy the beauty and wonder of Nature. They should be efficient in all walks of life and should take delight in the wealth of culture of past generations and civilizations. Hence, Science should form an essential part of the curriculum as it is the only subject which affords knowledge of certain facts and laws and

The Effect of Attitudes on Science Achievement: A Study Conducted Among High School Pupils in Cyprus2002 •
The purpose of this study was to examine how pupils' attitudes towards science and their beliefs about themselves affect their achievements in science, and vice versa. Cyprus provided an interesting location for the study, being a developing nation that has adopted educational ideas from a variety of countries, including the US, UK and Greece. The results of this study demonstrated the differential effects that science achievement and science attitudes can have on each other, depending on the characteristics of the educational systems of the country. The findings indicate various directions for future research.
The main purpose of this study is to explore the effect of the Common Knowledge Construction Model (CKCM) on the academic achievement and attitude towards science of primary education students in science topics. The group in this study consists of 87 students from four different classrooms of 7 th and 8th grades. This study in which the integrated design of the mixed method. Science and Technology class was taught based on the CKCM in the experimental group and 5E learning cycle was applied in the control group. Data of the study were obtained as a result of conducting the academic achievement tests, attitude towards science test, views on phenomenographic categories, classroom observation notes, video records. As a result, the students of the 7th grade were effective on improving the students’ developing their academic achievement. On the other hand, the students of the 8th grade were led to a medium level improvement in developing the viewpoints of the students on academic achievement. 7th and 8th grade Science and Technology lessons taught based on CKCM were not effective on improving the students’ developing their attitude towards scıence. It was observed that concepts taught based on phenomena are considered more meaningful and perceived more easily by the students. Keywords: Academic achievement and attitude towards science, common knowledge construction model, 5E learning cycle model.

The Effects of Student’s Attitudes and Self-Efficacy on Science AchievementOne of the critical subjects in school that needs to be assessed is a science subject. Without a science subject, students cannot observe and understand a phenomenon on earth. However, results from an international study such as Trends International in Mathematics and Science (TIMSS), students in Indonesia performed poorly compared to students from another country. Furthermore, science is one of the essential education for children as it included in the STEM Education (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). From some empirical evidence, student’s attitude and self-efficacy (beliefs about their ability and skill) were found to be dominant predictors of student’s achievement, not excluded, science achievement. However, most of the research analyses the data under conventional regression analysis. Instead of under the structural modelling, and so the results can be considered carefully. This research will analyze a science achievement of Indonesian cohort, and the predictor...

Problem-Based Learning and Its Effects on Achievement and Attitude in Science Among Grade 8 StudentsThe study used quasi-experimental research design to investigate the effects of problem-based learning (PBL) on the attitude and achievement in science among Grade 8 students in a public high school in the Philippines. A problem-based learning module was developed using the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) model. It was used in teaching science. On the other hand, the Attitude Questionnaire in Science was adopted to describe the attitudes of students in both the control and experimental groups. Data were analysed through descriptive statistics. Prior to teaching science using PBL, the students showed different attitudes and had a low achievement in terms of mean percentage score. But after the implementation of PBL instruction, the students got positive attitude in science. They find the experience interesting and challenging at the same time. The PBL instruction in the experimental group caused a better understanding of topics in science than the l...
