The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between Emotional Intelligence and Transformational Leadership Style in the female sports coaches from Hamedan Province. This study, according to its purpose, is an applied research and a correlational study. The population of this study included all female sports coaches of Hamedan province in 2013, their number is 250. To determine the sample size, the Morgan table was used. The sample was calculated according to Table 148. To gather intelligence, emotional intelligence questionnaire Saber Yashring (1986) was used which has 33 questions in Likert scale of five options and includes aspects of self-awareness, self-regulation, self-motivation, empathy and social skills and Bass and Avolio Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (2000) which measures the transformational leadership style, exchange and avoidance and consists of 45 questions that deals with the assessment indicators of transformational leadership, transactional and avoid. The validity of the questionnaire was confirmed by experts and Cronbach’s alpha reliability of 0.80 and 0.85 were approved. The data was analysed using Pearson and the SPSS software. Results show that there are significant relationship between Emotional Intelligence and Transformational Leadership Style in the Female Sports Coaches from Hamedan Province
The current paper aims to investigate the relationship between leadership style (LS) and emotional intelligence (EI) of coaches in selected team sports in universities of Kurdistan (Iran). An applied-correlational descriptive-survey method was used. Statistical population included all male and female coaches in sports chosen from volleyball and handball in universities of Kurdistan during the 2014-2015 academic year (n=58). Whole subjects were selected as the sample. Three questionnaires of personality characteristics, Emotional Intelligence (Syber Yashring), and leadership style (L.S.S) were used to collect data. Research reliability was determined with Cronbach's alpha test for intelligence emotional (α =0.824) and leadership style (α=0.718) questionnaires. Data analysis was carried out through Kolmogorov–Smirnoff (K-S) in order to determine normal distribution for data. Moreover, person’s correlation coefficient test was applied to measure research hypothesis. Pearson's result showed that there was relatively positive relationship between leadership style of "positive feedback" and coaching emotional intelligence in selected team sports of Tehran universities (r=0.275, p=0.036). However, there was no significant relationship between other leadership styles and emotional intelligence (p> 0.05). Due to significant relationship between some factors of emotional intelligence and leadership styles, it is recommended to consider emotional intelligence competencies to select team coaches, in addition to alternative coaching skills. Also, training courses before holding sports events may be established to enhance emotional intelligence of coaches, as the emotional intelligence abilities can be educated.
Sport coaches are critical human resources in sport organizations. Thus factors such as leadership style and mental and performance properties of the coaches play important role in athletes’ success. The objective of the present study was to determine the relation between emotional intelligence and leadership style with mediating role of efficacy among female coaches participating in female college Olympiad. The required data were collected by questionnaires of emotional intelligence (Shout, 1998), coaching efficacy (Myers et al, 2011) and leadership style (Chelladurai and Saleh, 1980) submitted to 90 female coaches participating in sport Olympiad. Although reliability and validity of these questionnaires had been already confirmed in many studies; their facial and content validity was approved by many university professors and their reliability was calculated by Cronbach’s alpha as 0.84, 0.77 and 0.91. Data were analyzed using multiple and double regression methods based on four-step model proposed by Baron and Kenny (1986). Results indicated that perceived ability of coaches regarding emotional intelligence including evaluation and exact monitoring of excitement changes during training and match time and the ability for optimal control and regulation of these excitements have positive influence on coaching confidence and their efficacy beliefs; and this relation results in taking a leadership style and behavior proportional to match and athlete’s condition and hence, enhances effectiveness of total coaching process. Moreover, this interaction can also promote athlete’s attitude and relation with his/her coach and thus their learning and performance.

The aim of the article is to explore how profile gymnasium teachers’ transformational leadership is associated with their emotional intelligence dimensions . Wong and Law’s Emotional Intelligence Scale (WLEIS) was used to measure the emotional intelligence of gymnasium teachers . Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ) was used in the research of leadership expression. The collected data were analyzed using structural equation modelling (SEM). The findings confirm that the transformational leadership is statistically significantly associated with emotional intelligence of gymnasium teachers from Lithuania. SEM ana...
Abstract The aim of the present research was to investigate the relationship between emotional intelligence and transformational leadership in managers of physical education of Golestan province. The managers and deputies of Golestan physical education departments participated in this research and 47 subjects were selected as the statistical sample of this study. Emotional Intelligence questionnaire that assessed five micro scales of self-‐awareness, self-‐management, self-‐motivation, empathy and social skills, Multifactor Leadership questionnaire (MLQ) by Bass and Avolio (1996) that measured five micro scales related to transformational leadership, three micro scales of transactional leadership, and laissez-‐faire leadership were used to collect the data. In order to analyze the data, ANOVA test, multiple regression test, and Pearson correlation coefficient were applied. The results showed a significant relationship between emotional intelligence and transformational leadership method. Also, the results of multiple regression test indicated that among transformational leadership micro scales, personal considerations was the strongest predictive variable in transformational leadership method and among emotional intelligence micro scales, empathy had a great influence on emotional intelligence of physical education managers. As well as to collect information from a standard questionnaire was used emotional intelligence and coaching oriented. The results show that between emotional intelligence variables and variables of self-awareness with behavior-oriented coach there is a significant relationship.
The purpose of the study was to examine the relationship between emotional intelligence and transformational leadership style and leadership effectiveness among academic heads in national universities in Sri Lanka. The Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ form5x) developed by Bass & Avolio (1992) examined the transformational leadership style of academic heads as perceived by academic subordinates. Emotional Competence Inventory 2.0 (Sala, 2002) measured the four dimensions of emotional intelligence. The four dimensions were self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and relationship management. Correlation and stepwise regressions were used to analyse the relationship between the variables of emotional intelligence and transformational leadership and leadership effectiveness in national universities in Sri Lanka. The statistical results of the study revealed that there was no statistically significant relationship between emotional intelligence and transformational leadership style of heads of the academic departments perceived by academic subordinates. The relationship between total emotional intelligence and leadership effectiveness was not significant.
