The present study was conducted with purpose to survey the related injuries in university skiers (ski players) at Gulmarg. These injured players were selected as a subject for the present study. Their age was ranging from 19 to 25 years. After screening of 63 questionnaires, only 48 Skiers (ski players) were included in the study. Questionnaire prepared by Cromwell F. J. Walsh Gromely for the elite Gaelic footballers (2000) were develop by researcher and utilized for the present study. Mean, standard deviation and percentages were used to identify the nature, location and the cause of the injury in university skiers (ski players). The study concluded that most of the injuries in the university skiers (ski players). Study concluded that most of the injuries sustained to the lower limb (65.27%), the mostly commonly injured anatomical site was knee (26.38%), and the ankle (21.42%). Upper limb injuries were relatively low (36.10%) of which the shoulders injuries were predominant (19.64%). Regarding the nature of injuries, ligament sprain are the most common injuries in the skiers (ski players). Regarding treatment of injuries, doctors and physiotherapist are the most common attention providers of skiers (ski players).

Retrospective analysis of injury trends in recreational skiers and snowboarders in Erciyes Ski Centre2018 •
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate the important differences in overall rates and frequency of injury cases and injury characteristics between the recreational alpine skiers and snowboarders in Erciyes Ski Centre. Methods: The data for this research was obtained from the Erciyes Ski Centre Injury Surveillance System. A total of 834 injury cases that ski patrols registered injury cases caused by recreational alpine skiing and snowboarding during the 2002 to 2017 winter seasons were respectively examined. The injury cases were grouped according to the skiing disciplines. All data were analysed using SPSS software. Results: Injury cases were 690 skiers (82.7%) and 144 snowboarders (17.3%). 397 (57.5%) male and 293 (42.5%) female were skiers and 91 (63.2%) male and 53 (36.8%) female were snowboarders. There was no statistically significant difference between the gender ratios in skiers and snowboarders (p > .05). Data analysis indicated that there were statistically...

Introduction. The mountaineering is one of the most loaded sport for joints and soft tissues and this sport arise a possibility of appearance of many different injuries. It is connected with recurrent movements and frequent bearing of body weight on hands or fingers. Objective. The aim of this research was the evaluation of kind and frequency of incidence of injuries and methods of their treatment in mountaineers and first of all to give an answer to following research questions: 1. What parts of body becomes injured in mountaineers and is the length of their fingers has any influence on frequency of their appearance? 2. What are the most frequent reasons of traumatic injuries occurring in mountaineers? 3. Are the body physics and weight can cause traumatic injuries in mountaineers? Material and method. The research was carried out among group of 67 mountaineers from Cracow including 14 women and 53 men aged 18 – 40. Additionally 36 men consented to length of fingers examination. Th...

From the central pivot to the peripheal knee injuries in the skier: a narrative review2019 •
The improvement in the technology in the last 20 years has showed its main effect on the increase of the speed in the curves, thus leading to a rise of knee injuries. In fact, the most injured zone of the body was the knee (35,6 %) and the distal part of the lower body (11,5%), with ACL lesion as the most frequent diagnosis (49% of all the injuries to the knee) due to a trauma in valgus and external rotation in most of cases. The MCL is involved in the 15-20% of the cases while the LCL in only the 4,2% of the patients. Unique epidemiology and distinct mechanisms of injuries are peculiar for skier’s knee while evaluation and treatment is similar to evaluation and treatment of knee injuries in other athletes. In this narrative review we aimed to highlight the current evidences in skiers’ traumatology with special focus on the treatment nowadays proposed in the international literature and to the return to sport. ACL injury mechanisms and related factors in male and female carving skiers: a retrospective study2011 •
In recreational alpine skiing, ACL injury risk is 3 times greater in females. However, since the introduction of carving skis ACL injury risk seems to have decreased. No study has yet investigated the distribution of ACL injury mechanisms in male and female carving skiers. Therefore, the aim of the study was to investigate potential gender specific differences of ACL injury mechanisms and related factors among carving skiers. In total, 220 recreational carving skiers (59 males and 161 females) suffering from an ACL injury volunteered for this study. Demographic data, skiing ability, equipment related and environmental factors, circumstances and causes for the fall, and type of fall (injury mechanisms) were collected by questionnaire. The forward twisting fall is the most reported ACL injury mechanism in both gender (p=0.672) accounting for 54% of all injuries, although male and female skiers differed significantly with regard to circumstances of fall (p=0.001) and actions when ACL i...
