Romantic partners are an important entourage for athletes. The purpose of the present study was to examine the difference in well-being and positive spillover effect between nationwide collegiate athletes with and without romantic partners. Furthermore, it is expected that the difference would depend on gender as well; hence, the quality of the relationship between an athlete and their romantic partner and its effects were examined with respect to gender. An internet survey was conducted for 205 collegiate athletes (mean age = 19.78, SD = 1.03) via registered monitors at Japanese social research companies. The chi-square test showed that the effect of the presence or absence of romantic partner did not differ according to gender (p = 0.074). The ANOVAs revealed that the romantic partner × gender interaction had an effect on positive spillover between athletic life and life outside sports (p = .047). According to sub effect tests, positive spillover was higher in male athletes having romantic partners than those who did not (p = .001). The result of correlational analyses among those having romantic partners showed that for males, satisfaction with a romantic partner was related to interdependent happiness (p = .004) and positive spillover (p = .002). For females, satisfaction with a romantic partner was related to subjective happiness (p = .001) and interdependent happiness (p = .001). Thus, the present study identified that irrespective of gender, athletes having romantic partners had better well-being and spillover effect than who did not, proving the importance of romantic partners in collegiate athletes’ lives.
The present study was designed to see the impact of different type of sports on happiness among the university athletes. Ninety adult participants completed the happiness inventory. The age level of the subjects was ranged from 21.12 ± 2.31 years. Athletes were divided into three sport groups (team, aquatic and combat) each group consists of 30 athletes on the basis of their type of sports. The applied instrument includes Oxford Happiness Questionnaire; had proper reliability and validity. Data have been analyzed with descriptive statistics and one-way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) to find out the inter-group differences and post-hoc test i.e. Tukey HSD was used for further analysis. To test the hypothesis, the level of significance was set at 0.05. Overall, results indicate that the happiness of the athletes in team sport is significantly higher in comparison to that of the aquatic sport and combat sport athletes. The findings of this research indicates that team sport leads to increased life satisfaction, self-esteem, life satisfaction, self-esteem, subjective well-being, and positive mood. Team sports make you feel happier and more relaxed. It is thus possible that participating in sports produce long-lasting happiness. It can be said that team sport had a positive effect on reducing depression and negative mood. Athletes should be motivated and encouraged for having the habit of regular participates in team sports to improve the quality of life.

Data was analyzed by using SPSS 22.0 (Statistical Package for Social Science) package software. While analyzing the data, Independent Sample t-test and One Way Anova test is used for determining the difference between the two approximate. At the end of the study, the students who are studying at physical education and sports university students are happier and more social than who study at the Faculty of Education (p<0.05). As a result, sport can be used as an effective tool to increase happiness and socialization level of university students. Key Words: Sports, Happiness, Socialization, University students

The anxiety level was measured by Sports Competitive Anxiety test developed by Marten (1977). The experimental variables were gender and marital status. Criterion variable was anxiety. Mean and ANOVA were applied for data analysis. The results reveal that both experimental variables therefore gender and marital status are found insignificant at 0.05 level of confidence. Although the importance of social support has been broadly recognised within the sports ˆeld, its mechanism has not yet been fully examined in terms of identifying eŠective dimensions, providers and timings. The current study's aim was to investigate the received support experienced by university student athletes respectively from coaches and teammates over the course of a week, and examine its relationship with self-conˆdence and feelings of adaptation. Two hundred thirty-one university student athletes completed questionnaires including the Japanese version of the Athlete Received Support Questionnaire (the ARSQ-J). The results indicated that received support might in‰uence recipients' self-conˆdence both positively and negatively, depending on its dimensions and providers. Esteem support both from coaches and teammates were eŠective for self-conˆdence. Tangible support had a positive impact if provided from teammates, but a negative impact if provided by coaches. Does Love Influence Athletic Performance? The Perspectives of Olympic Athletes2016 •
In this brief report, we provide an initial account of the association between love and athletic performance from the perspective of Olympic athletes. We posit that Romantic Passionate Love (RPL) and athletic performance may both involve the reward-motivation system of the brain. Based on this premise, we explored whether activation in one domain (love) might influence the other (sport). Our investigation was framed using Sternberg’s triangular theory of love. Twenty Olympic athletes representing different sports were interviewed at the Games. Most athletes (n = 15) reported that their performance was better while in love; however, qualitative responses suggested that the benefits were correlated with rather than resulting from RPL. Although the athletes were provided with a definition of RPL and affirmed that their relationship met the criteria, interview responses reflected companionate rather than passionate love, suggesting that RPL may be differentially conceptualized across cu...

Devils or angels when in love? An exploratory study investigating romantic love among high-risk athletes2022 •
In recent years, research on high-risk athletes has focused mainly on personality traits, highlighting a complex and often ambivalent personality structure. Although scholars pointed out emotional difficulties amongst high-risk athletes, there exists to this day no in-depth investigation of the affective aspect. In an effort to address this so-far neglected question, this study offers the first thorough exploration of patterns of romantic relationships among high-risk athletes. Two groups were selected: people who practice extreme sports (N = 189; Extreme) and those who practice other types of sports (N = 207; Non-extreme). A series of tests were administered to evaluate romantic love, personality traits and self-esteem. Results showed that Extreme tend to display less intense feelings than their Non-extreme counterparts; conversely, their sentimental relationships are characterized by positive emotions and stable feelings, avoiding negative emotions. Hence, despite stereotypes whic...

Negative Social Interaction and Psychological Well-Being on Female Basketball Athletes2021 •
Exercise can maintain a person's level of psychological well-being or also known as Psychological well-being (PWB), but on the other hand, it can also have a negative effect. Negative Social Interaction is one of the factors that have a negative effect on individuals from their environment during exercise. In terms of gender, women and sports are interrelated even though women have long been underestimated in sports, especially in sports that are considered masculine sports. This study examines the negative social interactions experienced by athletes in basketball. In basketball, negative social interactions can occur due to the assumption that basketball is a masculine sport, besides, that women are considered weaker than men. So this study aims to analyze the impact of Negative Social Interaction obtained by female basketball athletes on the Psychological well-being (PWB) of athletes. The instruments used were Negative Social Exchange (NSE) and Psychological Well-being Scale q...
