The aim of this study is to find out the influence of locality on study orientation of secondary school students. A modified Study Orientation Scale (SOS) was used on the sample of 360 students those were studying in class X in different schools of Purulia district for obtaining the study orientation scores. Similarly, academic achievement was measured through marks obtained by the students in the school level examination of class IX. From the analysis of data, the results showed that the urban and rural students have average level study orientation. The study orientation of rural students is slightly better than urban students. The study also revealed that locality has no significant influence on students' study orientation in secondary school.

STUDY ORIENTATION AND ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE OF GRADE SIX PUPILS IN DISTRICT II-C, DIVISION OF ANTIPOLO CITY SY. 2015-20162016 •
The study aimed to determine the study orientation and academic performance of Grade VI pupils in District II-C, Division of Antipolo City. A random sampling of eighty (80) Grade VI pupils and thirty (30) Grade six teachers from different schools in District II-C, Division of Antipolo City were involved in the study. The study was descriptive-correlation in nature. Based on the summary of findings, pupil-respondents view all variables as “generally” good in terms of study orientation such as time management, study environment, test taking/ preparation skills and note taking. In terms of pupils’ academic performance, “Satisfactory” rating gained from the pupil respondents which is 80.28%. Likewise, all subject areas are “Satisfactory” except MAKABAYAN which is only “Less Satisfactory” with a mean of 78.85. Study Orientations of pupils have significant influence to their Academic Performance. Pupils do not know how to manage their time in studying their lesson at the same time poor preparation during minor or major examinations and submitting their projects late revealed the most problematic factors as perceived by teacher-respondents. The following conclusions were formulated based on the findings presented: Pupils are oriented about their study and shows satisfactory performance in their academic. Study orientation has something to do better with the academic performance of pupils. Poor time management, poor preparation during examinations and late submission of projects are consider as limiting factors upon achieving high academic performance of pupils. Based from the summary of findings and conclusions drawn, the following recommendations are hereby offered: Pupils should continue to focus on their study in order to obtain higher grades in the class. Pupils should give value on study habit as it is a great tool for them to result good performance academically most particularly in MAKABAYAN subject. Teachers should orient pupils on the proper way of managing time in studying their lesson. Additionally, pupils should be aware on the tips for effective preparation on the examinations and give importance in accomplishing different tasks such as submitting their projects and the likes on time. Study Habits has been the object of empirical and theoretical investigation since that distant past. The main purpose of the study is to investigate the study habits of rural and urban college students of Kashmir valley. For the present study four hundred (400) students are selected by using sample random sampling. The age of the subjects (Students) remained in between 18 to 25 years. A questionnaire was used as a data collection tool. After the collection of data, the data is analyzed by using statistical technique t-test. The results reveal that more rural students (46%) prefer to read in the morning compared to urban students (43%). The data discloses that urban students read in English more than rural students (76% versus 65%) and rural students read in Urdu more than urban students (30% versus 20%). The region wise data also shows that rural students read more than urban for education (48% versus 37.5%) and urban students read more than rural for information (43% versus 37%) and recreation (13% versus 10%). Thus on the basis of results it is concluded that there is a significant difference between rural and urban college going students on different dimensions of study habits.

In this study the researchers investigated the effect of some study habits on the academic achievement of the students. Cluster sampling technique was used to collect data from the students in two districts; District Dir lower and District Malakand. The recorded data presented by contingency tables. To test significance of the study habits on academic achievement, chi-square test was used. The researchers found that the habits of taking notes and writing back class materials significantly affected the academic performance of the students. College administration, college teaching staff and parents of the students should concentrate on the study habits of the students. Seminars, workshops and training programs should be arranged in order to bring awareness about good study habits in students.
The present study, aimed to study and compare the study habits of private residential school children and rural government school children. The study compares the study habits, it's gender differences and correlation with academic achievement of these two groups. Study Habits Inventory, by D. Mukhopadyaya and D.N. Sansanwal, in 1983 to measure study behaviors, Marks obtained in English, Mathematics and Science, were considered to measure the Academic achievement. The sample comprised of 120 high achieving children, from each group. The study concludes that, private residential school children were above average in Comprehension, Concentration, Task Orientation, Interaction, Drilling, Recording; average in Sets and Supports. Whereas, rural government school children were above average in Comprehension, Concentration, Task Orientation, Recording; average in Sets, Interaction, Drilling and Supports. Private, residential and rural government school children were below average, in Language. In private residential schools, boys and girls differed significantly, in Comprehension, Task Orientation and Sets. Whereas, in rural government schools gender difference was significant in Interaction, Task Orientation, Sets and Supports. There is a significant positive correlation of achievement in science, with Task Orientation dimension for both the group of children.

STUDY HABITS AND ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT OF HIGHER SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS IN CHENNAI WITH RESPECT TO THEIR GENDER AND TYPE OF SCHOOL2017 •
In the present study, it aims to investigate Study Habits and Academic Achievement of Higher Secondary School Students with respect to Gender and Type of the School. The Sample of the study was selected by using Stratified Random Sampling technique which includes 550 Higher Secondary students(275 Boys and 275 Girls) of Chennai District. Survey Method was used to collect data. Study Habits was measured using the Study Habits Tool developed by the Investigator. Academic Achievement of the Students is measured by collecting the marks of Half-Yearly Examination. The data were analyzed using SPSS. Descriptive and Differential Analysis were the statistical techniques used. Study reveals that there is a significant difference between Study Habits and Academic Achievement of Higher Secondary School Students in Chennai District on the basis of Gender and Type of School.

Factors Affecting Study Habits of Grade 6 Pupils in Kalangahan, Elementary School2023 •
Due to pandemic, the learning of the pupils shifts from face to face to alternative learning modules. It is determined that study habits are vital to the pupils' academic achievement. This quantitative study sought to determine the factors affecting the study habits of the Grade 6 pupils in Kalangahan Elementary School. Males are the most respondents of this research and most of the respondents have low monthly family income. It is revealed that the respondents have been practicing good study habits; they always focus on the module and sometimes do a reading, take down notes, review, memorize, scan or do skimming method, enjoy learning, their parents help them in studying and the module is inviting learning. Additionally, they never make use of gadgets during the week of exam, never study while watching TV or listening music at home, and never study while using smartphones in home. Furthermore, this study found out that the respondents spend adequate time for their study. It also revealed that the pupils have agreeable perceptions towards the factors affecting study habits such as the modules being time consuming, modules in English language are difficult to understand, study tables, responsiveness of the teacher and family pressure. Lastly, the study revealed that there is no relationship between age and study habits. Also, there is no relationship between monthly family income and study habits. This study recommends parents to increase their level of supervision and caring for their children, as well as to show higher interest and concern in their children's academic work by creating a supportive environment for studying, providing study resources, and assisting students with their studies.
