The paper was to investigate gender variation in reading habits in schools in Moland: using Asantekwaa S.D. A. Junior High School in the Kintampo Municipality of Ghana as a case study. Questionnaires were used to collect data from one hundred and forty four (144) students who were randomly selected for the study. The findings of the study disclosed that females have higher positive attitudes towards reading than their males counterparts. The study recommended that teachers should draw programmes that will attract and encourage students to engage in effective reading habits. The school management and parents association should harness resources to set up a library in the school since a library is part of a school system which serves as a store house of knowledge.

Students’ enrolment in Home Economics programme in Senior High Schools (SHSs) in Ghana has been low in recent times. This has become a concern for major stakeholder in education. This study examined the determinants of students’ enrolment in Home Economics programme in SHSs in Ghana. The cross-sectional descriptive survey design was employed for the conduct of the study. The target population comprised first year Home Economics students from 16 selected SHSs in three administrative regions (i.e., Western, Central and Greater Accra Region). A simple random sampling technique (lottery method) was employed to sample 4 schools in the Western Region and 6 each from Central and Greater Accra Region. Predictors of School Choice: The Case of Parents in Cape Coast, Ghana2021 •
We identified the pertinent factors affecting parents’ choice of a particular senior high school (SHS) in Ghana, focusing on parents with at least one child in a SHS in Ghana and are residents of Cape Coast. The approach and design used were quantitative and descriptive survey design respectively. A sample of 637 of the parents, made up of 349 women and 288 men, was used. The parents were selected using convenience and snowball sampling techniques. A questionnaire, with a reliability coefficient ranging from 0.735 – 0.829, was the instrument used to collect the data. Out of the 637 parents sampled, we were able to retrieve 588 completed questionnaires, representing 92.3 percent response rate. The data were analysed using cross tabulation and linear multiple regression analysis. The findings revealed that parents preferred public boarding SHS which is single-sex education. The article sought to determine perceptions of Colleges of Education tutors on how the current Colleges of Education curriculum equips pre-service teachers to adapt and modify the general school curriculum to accommodate the needs of all children with special educational needs and disabilities for effective inclusive education in Ghana. A descriptive survey design was adopted using a sample of 235 tutors from 13 Colleges of Education in Ghana. The lottery method was used to select four regions out of the sixteen regions of the country and the purposive sampling technique was used to select all the colleges within the four regions, while convenience sampling technique was used to select the actual respondents for the study. Pedagogical Perspectives of Visual Arts Education in Senior High Schools in Ghana2020 •
The study employed qualitative paradigm with descriptive research design. A sample size of thirty-one (31) participants were selected from three schools using purposive sampling techniques. It included Visual Arts Students, Teachers, Heads of department and an official from the municipal education directorate in the study area. The study adopted interview, observation and review of documents as data collection instruments. Data collected were analyzed using simple illustrative examples. It was found that studio facilities and teaching methodologies have some influence on students’ learning. It is recommended that the identified academic inadequacies in the schools have to be resolved through adequate resourcing, infrastructure, teacher competency, good BECE entry grades, allowing students to choose their preferred subject base on their interests and also making available the National Teaching Standard for Ghana book for the teachers. This study examined the influence of principals’ conflict management strategies on conflict resolutions in secondary schools in Murang’a County. The study adopted descriptive research design. The target population comprised of 2,613 principals and deputy principals. The sample size was 400 respondents. Data were collected using questionnaires and interview guides. Assessment approaches employed by lecturers in higher education institutions play a significant role in the quality of teaching and learning. While instructors see the goals of the curriculum as basics for school assessments, learners have their own perception of assessments which shape their future learning activities. This study aimed at examining students’ perception of lecturers’ assessments at the University of Cape Coast. An explanatory sequential design was adopted by first selecting 830 students through a multi-stage sampling procedure and later, randomly sampled 12 students to be interviewed based on the quantitative results. The aim of the present study to evaluate mathematics literacy in Turkey based on the Turkish report of the 2015 PISA test from the perspective of mathematics teacher candidates’ opinions as well as to discuss recommendations for solutions. The study is a special case study, the participants of which are 19 mathematics teacher candidates at Necmettin Erbakan University, Ahmet Keleşoğlu Education Faculty. The teacher candidates’ opinions were elicited by means of sub problems consisting of open-ended questions. With the current study, it was concluded that changes and reforms need to be made in the Turkish education system, that the teachers, who play one of the key roles in the education system, are not adequately qualified and thus need to be open to changes and novelties and participate in professional development activities, and that students’ parents also need to undertake some responsibilities.
