The aim of the research is to know the teachers role and teachers needs in the personal hygiene learning of children with cerebral palsy. The subject of the research is teachers of SLB D1 YPAC Surakarta as a respondents are 6 persons. Data gathering technique gets from interview and observation. Data will be analyzed with qualitative research method in descriptive approach. The result of the research indicate that the majority respondents who is using speech method to convey about the personal hygiene learning. From 6 respondents, only 1 respondent who is sometimes using demonstration method. Utilizing picture media sometimes use by all respondents, 2 respondents sometimes using another media. From all respondents said that need another learning media which is might support the succeed of the personal hygiene learning of children with cerebral palsy.
The aim of this research is to identify the influence of leather puppet picture on the improvement of retelling story ability of 7th grade mental retardation students in SLB C Setya Darma Surakarta. All 7th grade students in SLB C Setya Darma Surakarta are used as the population and sample for this research. This research is a kind of experimental research with One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. Technique of collecting data is conducted by using oral test as the way to collect the students' ability of retelling story. To analyze the data, Statistical Quantitative non Parametric is used as the technique. This technique is also called Wilcoxon Sign Rank Test, which is given a Z symbol. Wilcoxon test is used to test 2 variables, items: before treatment and after treatment, with 0.05 significance level. The result of this research proves that the using of leather puppet picture are effect for the improvement of retelling story ability of 7th grade mental retarded students in SLB C Setya Darma Surakarta 2016/2017.

Introduction: The physical condition of a child with physical disabilities makes them dependent on others. Carers are the closest to children with physical disability and must have the ability to assist and teach children to do self-care activities. This study was aimed to determine the effect of self-care training on the knowledge, attitudes and skills of caregivers about the care of children with physical disability. Methods: The experiment was pre-experimental with one group pre-test-post-test design. The study was conducted on 23 caregivers who experienced caring of children with physical disability. The research instruments are Knowledge and Attitude of Self Care on Children with Physical Disability Questionnaire and Observation Sheet of Self Care on Children with Physical Disability, which have tested the validity and reliability to measure knowledge and attitude. Skill observation uses a check list with the validity test of expert opinion. Training on self-care using lecture, audiovisual, practice and discussion methods was conducted in two sessions on different days with 120 minutes per session. Data analysis used Paired Sample T-Test with significance level <0.05. Results: Self-care training significantly influenced caregivers’ attitude (p = 0.038) and skill (p = 0.002), but training has no effect on caregivers’ knowledge (p = 0.225). Conclusion: Self-care training improved attitudes and skills of caregivers for children with physical disability, but did not affect caregivers’ knowledge.
This study aims to answer questions about the condition of early reading skills II grade students with mental retardation in the second semester SDLB-D1 YPAC Surakarta. This research was conducted on six students. Data was collected by observation technique and tests. The results showed that the ability to read the beginning of the children is very low. From the six students who are subject to a new research only one children who can read, three children are recognize letters and two children know a few letters.
This study aims to determine the teachers' understanding and needs on reproduction health education at high school for students with Mental Retardation in SLB CG YPPCG Surakarta, SLB PBM Surakarta, SLB YSSD Surakarta and SLB N Surakarta. This study is a kind of qualitative research with case study type. Subject in this study is teachers of students with Mental Retardation in 10 th until 12 th grade in 4 SLB-C in Surakarta with total of 12 respondents. Data was collected by using the instrument of knowledge and attitude understanding. Data was analyzed by sing descriptive qualitative. In this research, there are three aspects: the majority of teachers do not understand about reproduction health education yet, all respondents indicate that there are no reproduction health education programs in schools, and all respondents suggest that it is important to have education reproduction health for children with Mental Retardation.
The research was done to examine the teacher candidate’s academic honesty and responsibility. Self-report was being the strategy which developed as an alternative assessment. This research raised questions as follows: (1) how is the teacher candidate’s academic honesty, and (2) how the teacher candidate’s academic responsibility is. The topic of this research was developed to gain more values of the teaching and learning toward students’ capacity building. The mix-method based on quantitative and qualitative analysis was used in this research. The quantitative data analysis was used to determine the range of the teacher candidate’s academic honesty and responsibility, while the qualitative analysis was used to examine the causal factor of the level of it. A number of 180 students of teacher candidate was chosen as the sampling by applying purposive sampling technique. The triangulation method of data analysis was used to determine the value level of both academic honesty and responsibility. The data finding showed that the level of academic honesty was good (27.78 percent), fair (37.78 percent), moderate (28.89 percent), and less (5.56 percent), while the level of academic responsibility was good (34.44 percent), fair (42.22 percent), moderate (20.00 percent), and less (3.33 percent). The percentage of both academic honesty and responsibility was gained from the self-report of students’ participation on class presentation and the rubric of presenter respond to the students’ questions. The following instrument was the presenter’s report of the class discussion process, and also timeliness in submitting reports (self and group report) which was submitted via email.
Abstract: This research investigated the gaps of the cultural and the social contexts in the process of teaching and learning English as a foreign language in Indonesia. It was focused on describing how the social and cultural gaps in teaching English as a foreign language in Indonesia were understood and performed appropriately. It was also aimed at investigating the problems of teaching English as a foreign language within social and cultural gaps, and the solutions as well. In other words, what the problems are and what the solutions are. The qualitative research was done at STKIP PGRI, College of Education, in Jombang, East Java, Indonesia. The object was the teaching English as a foreign language performed at the English Department of the College. The data were the utterances produced by the students who joined English Speaking Class and those who had already got English Speaking Class and the teachers’ responses to the open interview on the problems and the solutions related to the social and cultural gaps in teaching English as a foreign language. The instruments employed in collecting the data are Discourse Completion Test (DCT) developed by Hudson, Detmer, & Brown, 1995), and an open interview. In analysing the data, the model developed by Yin (2001) was employed covering five phases, such as 1) compiling, 2) disassembling, 3) reassembling, 4) interpreting, and 5) concluding. The results revealed that there were 80 students of one hundred of English Department of the College completed the DCT. Most of the students (90%) were suffered from pragmatic failures in ten situations given in the test. The social and cultural contexts were not identified and understood in communicating to foreigners (native speakers). The problems were the less of pragmatic competence due to the absence of pragmatics in teaching and learning process. The subject of ‘cross-cultural understanding’ was taught to them but the effectiveness was questionable. It was proved by the less knowledge and poor performance in using language in the target language contexts, such as social and cultural contexts. The solutions were pragmatics was a must for them and should be taught with sufficient time and well-designed materials, and the teaching of ‘cross-cultural understanding should be well reviewed. Because of the difference of teaching English as a foreign language (EFL) and as a second language (ESL), the EFL was much more challenging due to the environment did not support it. The teacher was required to be able to create the real life situations of the target language contexts. This research investigate the gap of the cultural and the social context in the process of teaching and learning foreign language in Indonesia. The topic of the discussion were focused on the investigation of the cultural and the social context gap between the material and the classroom context and also investigation in the students’ response toward the problem raised by it gap. The research was done qualitatively by applying descriptive analysis. The observation and questionnaire were used as the instrument to determine the social and cultural context gap in the teaching and learning process. The analysis also examined how the teaching process in accordance to solve the problem in which there were a big role of the teacher in managing the classroom. The cultural and the social context mostly appear in the pragmatic competence toward the function of language which is learnt in the classroom. The differences of the social and cultural context bring students to the alien situation which is difficult in the consideration of appropriate language in the social and cultural context which is quite different. The teacher role is important and dominant in determining the causal factor of the misunderstanding of the social and cultural context which influence the pragmatic competence of the students, mainly to the understanding of the appropriateness of the use of the foreign language to its native speaker.
This study aimed to analyze the conceptual design of teacher profession education program as a model of organization of teacher education policies which has goal to prepare professional teachers. The study raised questions: (1) how is the coherency of the conceptual design of professional teacher profession education program, (2) how is the accomplishment model of the teacher profession education program, (3) how is the impact of the use of the professional teacher profession education model. The library research design was used in this study by applying meta-analysis. The data which examined were law and legislation of education and national education standard of Indonesia. The data were analyzed by comparing teacher education program and also the history of its in Indonesia. The result of the study showed that the coherency of conceptual design of the teacher profession education program is low in both professional teacher concept and also toward the law and the legislation of national education. The model of teacher profession education program was accomplished by using consecutive model which oriented on subject matter. As the effect of model in the teacher profession education program, the competence of the teacher was more dominant on subject matter than the pedagogic, social and personality competency. The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of using the beam media on fractions students with visual impairment to improve the learning outcomes about mathematical summation material on fractions students in YKAB special schools (SLB) Surakarta. The research method which is used in this study is single subject research design experimental that is design A-B-A (Baseline-1-Intervention-Baseline-2) with the subject is chosen directly by the researchers based on the need of two students on a 4th grade of special school. The Techniques of analysing data used are statistical analysis and visual analysis. Statistical analysis is in the form of charting a simple statistic description of Antam. Visual analysis focuses on changes in one variable and two conditions (results) that change all the intervention phase and the changing compared with the baseline phase. Based on data analysis from all three phases, it is known that the using of fractional block media provides positive influence on mathematics learning outcome fractions summation material of students with visual impairment. Based on these results, we can conclude that fractional block is an effective media to improve the learning outcomes about fraction summation material for fourth grade students with visual impairment.

The Correlation between Parents’ Encouragement and the Learning Achievement of Secondary School Student with Disability at SLB Negeri 1 Bantul2018 •
Parent’s encouragement is one of the important factors that affect children’s learning achievement. Parents commonly argue that when children are at school period, the responsibility of parents to guide children can be diverted to teachers. They have spent much money making their children good in everything. Many parents only appreciate their children when parents’ goal is achieved by children based on the standard of parents. This phenomenon also experienced by students with special needs. Parents usually send their special needs children to school without specific purposes. The aim of this research is to investigate the correlation of parents encouragement and the achievement of secondary school students with disability to motivate students explore their ability and support parents and teacher to help children find their ability. The method is descriptive quantitative. The researcher finds that there are significant correlation between parents’ encouragement and the achievement of students, but the correlation is negative, so, H1 is rejected. Parents’ encouragement give negative effect toward students’ achievement
