The aim of this study is investigation of visual and auditory basic reaction time differences of individuals with mild, moderate, and severe mental retardation. Totally 57 males (n = 40) and female (n = 17) individuals with mild (n = 23), moderate (n = 22), and severe (n = 12) mentally retarded participated in this study. Computerized reaction time tests (VRT: www.humanbenchmark.com; ART: cognitivefun.net) was used for visual reaction time (VRT) and auditory reaction time (ART). Reaction time was measured five times, and the mean variable saved as millisecond in both tests. Kruskal Wallis and Mann-Whitney U tests were used for analysis of obtained data. There was no significant difference in VRT and ART between male and female individuals (p > 0.05). Significant difference was found in VRT and ART parameters between mental retardation categories (p<0.05). Significances were observed between mild and severe mental retardation categories both VRT and ART (p<0.05). In summary, it could be said that gender isn't affect visual and auditory basic reaction time in individuals with mental retardation; however, the severity of mental retardation may have negative effect on basic reaction time.
The purpose of our study was to investigate visual and auditory basic reaction time differences in age groups of 11-18 youth. Totally 802 male (n = 401) and female (n = 401) sedentary children in the age groups as 11 (n = 87), 12 (n = 111), 13 (n = 100), and 14 (n = 104), 15 (n = 100), 16 (n = 100), 17 (n = 100), 18 (n = 100) voluntarily participated in this study. Computerized reaction time tests (VRT: www.humanbenchmark.com; ART: cognitivefun.net) was used for visual reaction time (VRT) and auditory reaction time (ART). Reaction time was measured five times, and the mean variable saved as millisecond in both tests. There was no statistical significance observed between male and female children (p > 0.05). Significant difference was found in VRT and ART parameters between age categories (p < 0.05). Significances were determined between 18 and 15 age groups, between 17 and 15 age groups and 16, between 15 age groups, 14 and 11, 12 age groups, between 13 and 11, 12 age groups, both VRT and ART (p < 0.05). In conclusion, it could be said that sedentary children perform faster reaction with increasing age between 11-18 years.

A pilot study to compare auditory and visual reaction time in male and female young adultsBackground: It was explained that there are very few studies that exist in the literature that assessed the reaction time in young adults. Aims and Objectives: The primary objective of the present study was to assess and compare the auditory and visual reaction time among male and female young adults. The secondary objective was to compare auditory and visual reaction time’s right- and left-hand responses. Materials and Methods: A total of 120 male and female young adults were part of the study after obtaining informed consent. Auditory and visual reaction time was assessed using the RT apparatus manufactured by Anand Agencies, Pune. The instrument can assess visual reaction time for the green and red light and auditory reaction time for tone and click sounds of both right- and left-hand responses. Results: Age and weight were significantly different between males and females, whereas height was not significant. The auditory and visual reaction times were not significantly different...

A comparative study of visual and auditory reaction times in males and females1994 •
Visual and auditory reaction times (VRT and ART) were studied in 38 male and 41 female healthy medical students in the age group of 17-18 years. Subjects were presented with two visual stimuli viz red and green light stimuli and two auditory stimuli viz high pitch and low pitch sound stimuli. The R.T. to red light was significantly lower than to green light stimulus in both sexes. No statistically significant difference was observed in the response to high and low pitch sound stimuli in both sexes.
The present study was carried out to assess visual system in autistic children. Twenty subjects were selected as subject group. Age group of children was 10 – 15 years. Visual tasks were performed on Reaction time apparatus. visual reaction time is prolong ed in autistic children

Comparison of Some Performance Parameters of Physically Active Mentally Retarded and Inactive Mentally Retarded Individuals2018 •
The aim of this study is to compare the some performance parameters of 12-14 aged physically active mentally retarded and inactive mentally retarded individuals. 6 male sedentary mentally disables as a control group (age 13,33±0,21 year, weight 42,33±5,21 kg, height 149,66±6,44 cm) and 6 male physically active mentally disables (age 13,16±0,16 year, weight 39,66±2,37 kg, height 154,00±3,96 cm) were participated to the study. First of all height and weight measurement were taken, then they began warming up. Vertical jump was applied to control group and experimental group respectively. Immediately before and after the 50 meters speed test, heartbeats were taken with polar. The times of 50 meters speed test were taken by using chronometer. Spss 22 package program was used for evaluating the data. Result of the study, there were no significant differences in terms of age, height and weight of the groups. In addition that, the parameters of vertical jump, 50 meters speed test, anaerobic...
A comparative study of development of Reaction Ability in normal and deaf and dumb girls between 8 to 14 years is administered on around 350 students of different schools who were taking formal education. Out of 350 students 175 were selected from normal category and 175 from physically challenged i.e., deaf and dumb category. In each 25 girls were selected (25 subjects in normal girls and in each age group i.e., 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 & 14 years totaling to 175; 25 subjects in deaf and dumb in each age group i.e., 8, 9, 10 11, 12, 13 & 14 years totaling to 175). These subjects were tested initially in Reaction Ability and the same subjects were exposed to the same tests after exactly one year without any formal sports training and the development in their Reaction Ability was noted. After the statistical treatment of data by utilizing t-test and f-test the following findings were noted: The reaction ability of normal girls is found developed from 8 th to 14 th year sequentially. In deaf dumb girls it is found maximum at the age of 8 th year.

Peculiarities of Psychomotor Reaction of Schoolchildren with Intellectual Disabilities: Aspects of Moderate Intensity Exercising and Age2018 •
Background. Intellectual disability is defined as significantly reduced ability to understand new or complex information, to learn and to apply new skills. Integration into the society and independent living for intellectually disabled people is demanding because of slowdown decision processing. Quick enough response time is of vital importance not only for the motor development but also for faster and better adaptation to the changing life conditions. Methods. The subjects were 112 persons with and without intellectual disability aged 11 to 18 years and recruited for the study. The Reaction Timer RA-1 was used to measure reaction time and to determine the speed characteristics of the person’s psychomotor response before and after moderate intensity exercising. Heart rate monitor Polar RS800 was used to measure the person’s heart rate. Results. The best reaction time was demonstrated by 16-year-old normally developed individuals and those with mild intel...

Comparative Study of Motor Performance of Deaf and Hard of Hearing Students In Reaction Time, Visual-Motor Control and Upper Limb Speed and Dexterity …2010 •
Using the Bruininks-Oseretsky Test the motor performance of 34 deaf--hard-of-hearing pupils, 6-14 year, was evaluated in reaction time, visual-motor control and upper limb speed and dexterity. The two-way ANOVA variance analysis for two independent variables, group, age, and the Post Hoc (Scheffe test) for multiple comparisons were used. The analysis indicated no statistically important differences between Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing, but showed statistically important differences in the age factor, visual-motor control (F[subscript 3,16] =5.06, p less than 0.05), speed and upper limbs dexterity (F[subscript 3,16] = 3.65, p less than 0.05) and interaction between group and age for the ability of visual-motor control (F[subscript 3,16] = 4.44, p less than 0.05). The results will show if it is necessary to schedule suitable intervention programs for the improvement of the performance in the specific abilities in order to allow the inclusion in the Physical Education courses.
