Today, all organizations are somehow exposed to developments in information technology (IT), and the effects of the information and communication technology (ICT) application in all areas of the supply chain, from relationships with suppliers to production and communication with customers, is obvious. In this survey, we study the effect of the use of information technology tools on the capabilities and performance of supply chain in the look of leather production companies in East Azerbaijan province. In this research, we are going to study supply chain communications systems, electronic data interchange, electronic mail, barcode and radio frequency identification in IT instruments and gadget collection; in field of supply chain capabilities, four aspects including the exchange of information, coordination, integration activities and the responsibility of supply chain; and in relation to performance of the supply chain, two performance variables, including sales and marketing performance and financial performance. The results show that based on the research process model, use of information technology (IT) tools have affected on supply chain capabilities and consequently, supply chain performance is also affected.

Investigating the effects of information technology on the capabilities and performance of the supply chain of dairy companies in Fars province: A multiple case study2012 •
In any supply chain the product or the supply moves from supplier to manufacturer to distributers by transporters and then to customers throu gh retailers. Thus Supply Chains are actually networks or the webs. The exponent growth in Information Technology tools have been contributed to the development and expansion of Supply Chain Management all over the world. Thus Information Technology which affects each and every part of the Supply Chain acts as the key driver to provide higher responsiveness while simultaneously improving efficiencies. These tools are used to gather information, analyze the information and to work on it for the better perfor mance of any Supply Chain. But there are several risks associated with the use of Information Technology in the Supply Chain. The larger the change in Information Technology system the greater is the risk of negative impact on operations.
Despite the growing importance of ICTs during the post reforms regime, its use in facilitating supply chain has not improved in the present business context. This paper examines the issues and develops an argument to focus more on ICT practices in supply chain facilitation. It aims to provide how the role of information and communication technologies (ICTs) in managing supply chain for facilitation of business and to pinpoint the key issues that deserve attention of policy makers to exploit the opportunities provided by ICTs. This study tries to provide an insight on the usages of ICTs on supply chain based on exploratory ideas generated from different literature reviews.

In this paper, the effect of a new supply chain design on the business performance was analyzed in the context of information technologies. For that purpose, by using case study method, a company that operates in fast-moving consumer goods industry (FMCG) in Turkey and possesses and uses a supporting tool named as SAP APO software as an information technology to perform supply chain operations was examined. Under the scope of the study, supply, production and distribution planning processes are modelled and implemented in short, medium and long terms. Implementation results demonstrate that restructuring of the supply chain by using information technologies has positive effects on business performances criterions like supply, production and distribution.
The exponential growth of Information Technology (IT) with communication technology in Supply Chain Management (SCM) is playing critical role in optimising decisions of the supply chain network flow for achieving organisational competitiveness, improving higher service level, lowering inventory, supply chain costs and reducing electronic risks (e-risks). To achieve integration and effective information sharing across and beyond the organisations, IT in SCM is also required. The organisations are moving towards the virtual supply chain with help of rapid changes in technology and IT applications viz; Electronic Data Exchange (EDI), Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), Bar Code, Electronic Commerce, Decision Support system, Enterprises Resource Planning (ERP) package, etc. It is also easily applicable in curbing the e-risks. Understanding the role and application of IT in managing and curbing e-risks of Supply Chain is the basic theme of this paper.
