This article is about a special class of interpersonal conflict from which it seems impossible to leave, given the recursive organization of interactions between those involved. It takes as point of analysis the notion of nuclear impasse, proposed by Scheinkman and Fishbane (2004); this construct describes situations of controversy in which certain negative relational patterns combine, to form reciprocal intensification cycles (“vicious circles”) and to promote escalations of multidirectional violence. In particular, we reflect on certain uses of the argumentation that emerge in the discussions when individuals adopt epistemicidal, abysmal, vertiginous and predatory positions. It examines the philosophical and sociological contributions of authors such as Carlos Pereda (1999) and Boaventura de Sousa Santos (2014) on the implications of objectivist positions that underlie such an argumentative style, and explores the rationalizing strategies as self-protective responses that the parts of the relational system implement before the sensation of vulnerability raised by what they interpret as an offensive of the counterpart. The recursive loop is triggered when the participants, without realizing it, defend themselves against vulnerability, but with mechanisms that, however, violate the other. Likewise, the possible sources that trigger these dynamics are investigated and can be traced back to a transactional, sociocultural, intrapsychic and intergenerational plane. Accordingly, the relevance of the multi-level approach proposed by Scheikman (2008) is mentioned, because of its potential to understand the complex nature of crises in relational systems.
Located in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, Colombia, La Lengüeta is marked by profound economic, sociopolitical, and cultural complexities. In addition to belonging to a Natural National Park and an indigenous reservation, it has been settled by farmers from different regions of the country. It has also experienced the Colombian State's problematic presence as well as of non- State actors. I analyze from an ethnohistorical approach how differing ways of understanding space and territory have shaped La Lengüeta over the past 50 years. Specifically, I address how La Lengüeta has been inserted into Colombian economic and productive dynamics, the migration processes, and the tensions among different human groups and institutions in this region.

How is an author read, and with what discussions is he received? This article seeks to contribute knowledge about the way in which Charles Tilly, specifically his notion of "repertoire", has been read in some social research programmes on social conflict in the context of the resurgence of social protest studies during the crisis at the beginning of the century. In turn, and within this prism, this paper proposes to show the echoes of his contributions in the theoretical and methodological criteria that underpin the elaboration of catalogues of events of struggle.
In this article I analyze the development of the concept of ontological environmental conflict with the aim of demonstrating its conceptual autonomy and the need to deal with it as category of its own within political philosophy and law. I place the evolving definition of the term within what in anthropology and political philosophy is known as the ontological turn theory. I argue that this field of contemporary anthropology has its own methodological and conceptual tools, which can be useful within the legal sphere to deal with conflicts regarding incommensurable differences (Povinelli). I also claim that conflicts of interest related to the environment usually occur at a deep level, over the reality of the object underlying the conflict; therefore, they should be addressed as ontological conflicts (Blaser). Finally, I try to establish hermeneutic criterion for managing this kind of environmental conflicts.
