DU REPROCHE À L’EXCUSE DANS LA SPHÈRE PUBLIQUE EN CONTEXTE CAMEROUNAIS

Abstract


Dans cette étude, nous proposons d’aborder le fonctionnement de l’échange « reproche – excuse » dans un espace public en contexte camerounais. Plus précisément, nous scrutons les stratégies mises en œuvre par les interlocuteurs pour formuler leurs reproches et pour présenter leurs excuses dans une situation de distance sociale. Se fondant sur un corpus de données empiriques produites par 150 répondants, l’analyse s’effectue à la lumière de la théorie des faces. Nous nous attacherons à montrer comment, dans une situation d’offense entre personnes inconnues, les interlocuteurs accomplissent le travail de préservation ou de déstabilisation de l’harmonie sociale et comment cela se manifeste dans l’organisation de leurs échanges ainsi que dans l’expression de leurs reproches et de leurs excuses. 

In this study, we examine the dynamics of complaint and apology exchanges in a public setting in Cameroon. We analyze, more precisely, the discursive strategies used by interlocutors for complaining and apologizing in a situation marked by social distance. The study is based on examples provided by 150 respondents and the analysis was done within the framework of rapport-management. The aim of the study was to show how interlocutors preserve or disrupt social harmony in an offense-laden situation between strangers and how their intents are materialized in the organization of the exchanges and the realization of complaints and apologies.
