Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to make a theoretical reflection about the several approaches that have been postulated around the issue of financial inclusion, and very specific way to the knowledge in financial topics that falls within the theme of financial education. Through the literature review, different postures were identified: firstly, some international organizations debate about the need for people to be better informed. They suggest that they should have a level of financial knowledge to help them make the best decisions. Furthermore, empirical studies who have demonstrated low or zero knowledge in financial topics in the populations studied in different contexts. At the end, a causal model resulting from this theoretical reflection for further analysis and testing of assumptions in an empirical study is shown.
