THE MEDIATING ROLES OF CULTURAL INTELLIGENCE AND SOCIAL SKILLS ON THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN CHARISMATIC LEADERSHIP OF SCHOOL HEADS AND TEACHER EFFICACY AMONG PUBLIC ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS
Abstract
The main purpose of the study is to determine the significance of the mediating roles of cultural intelligence and social skills in the relationship between the charismatic leadership of school heads and teacher efficacy among public elementary school teachers. Using a correlational technique and a quantitative, non-experimental, mediation research design, data were obtained from 335 public elementary school teachers working in 4 cluster areas under the Division of Davao del Sur, specifically the big schools under Cluster 1, Cluster 2, Cluster 3, and Cluster 4. The researcher used a cluster sampling technique, and the statistical tools were the mean, Pearson r, and path analysis. The study found very high levels of teacher efficacy, cultural intelligence, and social skills, while the charismatic leadership of school heads was also high. Moreover, there are significant relationships between charismatic leadership of school heads and cultural intelligence, cultural intelligence and teacher efficacy, charismatic leadership of school heads and social skills, social skills and teacher efficacy, and charismatic leadership of school heads and teacher efficacy. Furthermore, cultural intelligence and social skills have a significant combined full mediation on the relationship between charismatic leadership of school heads and teacher efficacy. The results of the study contribute to the existing body of knowledge on charismatic leadership, teacher efficacy, cultural intelligence, and social skills. This implies that cultural intelligence and social skills have mediating roles in the relationship between charismatic leadership and teacher efficacy.
